Intimate condos, also called ’boutique developments’, are those that come with 120 or fewer apartments. These provide a different experience from comprehensive condos. Often, they are associated with higher maintenance costs and fewer facilities. However, some of these developments have been able to keep maintenance cost down or build sensible, practical facilities for owners. Having lived in a boutique development, I have found several benefits. For a start, you are more likely to know your neighbours better and have a ‘kampong’ (village) experience where festivities are celebrated together. Your car is not likely to be parked too far away when you return from a late night outing. Facilities are less crowded and more readily available. Also, decisions can be made more easily by the Management Committee, which in turn, can exercise more flexibility.

The intimate condos selected here are great for owner occupiers as well as rentals. These freehold boutique properties are also in superb locations and will give you enduring value. Some are at the top of the luxury range and are uber exclusive while some are simply wonderful to live in.

If you are looking at it from an investment standpoint, note that some nationalities prefer cosy development as opposed to large ones, as long as they are well located. My goal is to introduce them to you so that you can take them into consideration as you plan your property purchase.
